Catching Up and San Francisco Visit

I am quite surprised by how much time a new little baby will consume. Janice gave birth to our first, Harrison James, on August 27th at 6 PM.

He is quite excellent, and over the past month I've become acclimated to the life of parenthood. Janice and I have a system, and things are starting to calm down to the point that I can start getting things done again.

Harrison being born didn't stop the job search hunt, however. Last week I visited Chris Rawson in San Francisco while I had a personal interview with Sledgehammer games for an Associate Operations Producer role. I was incredibly excited about the position, but they ended up going with someone else in the end. It was, however, a great self-confidence boost to see that someone who makes Call of Duty would be interested enough to let me get to stage three of interviewing. Over the past week I've hit the application grind with more self-confidence.

While I was visiting, Chris introduced me to the CEO of the startup company he works for, Thomas Wu of Fable Labs. They're currently in the process of making a very elaborate game engine system that is able to manipulate almost any game parameter even after its launched. They're targeting multiple non-hardcore demographics with their seek-and-find line of games. It's impressive stuff. They seem to be quite against a Production type role, but hopefully in the next few weeks I'll get to talk to Thomas and see if he's looking for the kinds of things that I bring to the table.
